ABOUT THE WEBINAR

Humans have long had an interest in the impact of food properties on health and well-being. At the turn of the century, there was an explosion of interest in nutraceuticals due to the identification of the health benefits of food-based components, and their potential for exploitation in the food, supplement, and pharmaceutical industries. The identification of specific components in foods that provide benefits to human health changed the way the biomedical model of health perceives what we eat.

As of 2022, an entire generation of people is growing up in a world where the concept of nutraceuticals is a given. Using a historical, and socio-analytical perspective this webinar explores how knowledge generation and dissemination about nutraceuticals has impacted health behaviors and ventures to project what is on the horizon for nutraceutical understanding and applications of nutraceuticals.
